Barnaby Skulk is a Texan mercenary affiliated with Billy-Ray Sanguine.
In the buildup to the War of the Sanctuaries, he hires himself out to the Supreme Council, along with Gepard Voke and Persephone Grief.
Appearance and personality[]
Like all Tunnellers, Barnaby has empty sockets where his eyes used to be before he gouged them out. He has replaced them with black-coloured cryolite glass eyes.
Barnaby is blunt, quiet, and "black-hearted", according to Billy-Ray Sanguine.
Biography[]
Barnaby grew up in Texas. At some point he became familiar with Billy-Ray Sanguine, Gepard Voke, and Persephone Grief.
After a Dimensional Shunter's expedition team captured some razorworms, Barnaby became responsible for training them along with Voke and Persephone, voting for Voke's name 'groundsharks' over Persephone's name 'razorworms'.
By 2013, the trio are in the employment of the Supreme Council, and send the razorworms to guard the English Sanctuary from Sanguine. A few months later, the American Sanctuary hires the group to arrest Sanguine, but as it is nearly impossible to arrest a Tunneller, they decide to kill Sanguine instead.
The group uses the razorworms to herd Sanguine to an old house where they are waiting for him. Sanguine expresses surprise that Barnaby is still associating with Voke and Persephone, believing that Barnaby has "more discriminating taste", but Barnaby simply shrugs. When Sanguine, Voke, and Persephone begin arguing about the razorworms' name, Barnaby changes his mind, deciding that he prefers the name 'razorworms'.
When the fight breaks out, Barnaby and Persephone fight Sanguine through the house. As Barnaby tunnels through a wall after Sanguine, Sanguine shoots him dead, leaving Barnaby's corpse hanging half in, half out of the wall.
Magic and abilities[]
Barnaby is an Adept, specifically a Tunneller. As such, he has the ability to burrow through solid surfaces, and to detect vibrations in the ground. Barnaby appears to be an unusually slow Tunneller.
A skilled combatant, Barnaby twice gets the edge over Billy-Ray Sanguine in brief clashes. Barnaby is a poor gunman, however; his aim is poor, and he loses control of his gun to Sanguine.
