An Assistant of China Sorrows worked in her Library before its destruction. He was later found dead murdered by Eliza Scorn.
In Mortal Coil, he is one of the sorcerers possessed during the outbreak in China's library. Here, he reveals that he has been by China's side for "hundreds of years", suggesting he was an accomplice of China during her leadership of the Diablerie. He displays an impressive knowledge of China's mind and her various exits in the Library. He seems to be a permanent resident of the library.
After being possessed, it is suggested that he returned to her service due to the reader being notified that he was killed by Eliza Scorn.
He does not survive in the alternate dimension, presumably dying in the same incident which sparked China's loss of her collection.
China feels a certain remorse after his passing, something she only reserves for those closest to her.
Biography[]
Skulduggery Pleasant[]
After being attacked by Vindick Leather at Grimwood House, Stephanie and Skulduggery visit China’s library, where her assistant lets them in after he recognises Skulduggery.
Three days later, when Stephanie tells China that Serpine has kidnapped Skulduggery. China leaves with her assistant, saying she will return later. While out with her assistant, China sends word to the Elders of Stephanie’s claims. When they arrive back, her assistant returns to the library.
A day later Skulduggery, Stephanie (now having taken the name Valkyrie Cain), and Tanith Low are fighting Serpine and his Hollow Men outside Grimwood House. China and her assistant pull up in a car, and Tanith, Valkyrie and Skulduggery jump in as the car speeds away.
