Cu na Gealaí Duibhe was a creature whose heart was used for the the Grotesquery. It was only dangerous when the sun, moon and earth were aligned, a trait it passed onto the Grotesquery. Cu na Gealaí Duibhe means 'Hound of the Black Moon' in Gaeilge. It is stated by Skulduggery in Playing With Fire that they are virtually extinct.
