Summary
Chapter 1
Rancid Fines attempts to bring back the Faceless Ones with supposed friend and investor, Kiln; using the Crystal of the Saints to aid in powering a portal so the Faceless Ones can move in-between dimensions. The Crystal does not work and Kiln reveals his plans of betrayal towards Rancid. Before the betrayal continued, Valkyrie Cain and Skulduggery Pleasant arrive on the scene to arrest Rancid and Kiln which ends in a fight with ninjas. It is unknown at this point of the story if Kiln is arrested but Rancid does escape with the Crystal.
Chapter 2
Omen Darkly and Auger Darkly are lounging together waiting for assembly to begin within school. From previous events in Seasons of War Auger is traumatized from fulfilling the Prophecy and wiping the King of the Darklands from existence. Auger is also upset about his recent break up with Never (Identifies as a they/them in this chapter). Head teacher, Duenna announces the Feile na Draiochta; held every 72 years, therefore there is a half day so students can enjoy the festivities. After the assembly, the students rush to class whilst Thiago, Omen and Never discuss Auger's wellbeing coming to the conclusion that Omen must speak with him. This also results Omen in detention as he is late for class.
