Skulduggery Pleasant Wiki

So far, only deleted scenes from the first book and "Playing With Fire" were ever published.

Book 1[]

The deleted scenes from the first book were called "What Might Have Been" and have a Skulpedia entry of their own.

Playing With Fire[]

The deleted scene used to be published on the old Skulduggery Pleasant UK website and could be found in the 'Downloads' section but has since been taken down. It was also possible to unlock that scene via the first promotional SP game "The Quest" which since has also been taken down.

Playingwithfire

The scene features a conversation between Valkyrie Cain and Skulduggery Pleasant during a car ride in the Bentley.

The Deleted Scene[]

“I’m sorry,” Skulduggery said as they drove.

Valkyrie looked at him. “I’m sorry?”

“What are you sorry for?”

“No, I mean, what?”

“I said what are you sorry for?”

“I’m not sorry for…what do I have to be sorry about?”

“Don’t ask me. You’re the one who said it. First I apologise, then you apologise. You’re like an affectionate little apologetic parrot.”

“I’m not an apologetic parrot.”

“Polly want a cracker?”

“Polly does not want a bloody cracker, Polly wants to know what you’re talking about.”

“Well, first of all, I said I was sorry. I was basically apologising for not telling you the whole story, and for getting a trifle self-obsessed, and I was using the apology as a way to break down whatever walls have built up, and to allow us to get back to being friends and partners.”

“Well…okay. That’s…okay.”

“So what did you apologise for?”

“I didn’t apologise.”

“No?”

“No.”

“Not even a little?”

“Well, no.”

He nodded. “A bit mean-spirited of you, but that’s fine.”

“What’s mean-spirited? I did nothing wrong!”

“Oh of course, it’s all my fault, you were the perfect little angel.”

“But I did nothing wrong!”

“There’s that parrot again.”

“Stop calling me a parrot! You’re the one who has something to apologise for, not me!”

“So, what, you’re going to make me apologise again?”

“What?”

“Not exactly gracious in victory, are you?”

“I’m not– I don’t want– what?”

He looked at her and tilted his head and she caught herself.

“I hate you,” she said, sitting back in her seat and trying not to smile.

“No you don’t.”

“Yes I do. I hate you. You’re infuriating.”

“Me?”

“You did this on purpose. You knew you had to say sorry so you turned your apology into an argument.”

“I did no such thing.”

“It doesn’t change the fact that you said you were sorry.”

“I think you’re imagining things.”

“You said sorry.”

“Too much sun, perhaps. Or maybe you’re overtired.”

“You said sorry.”

“And you’re sure Polly doesn’t want a cracker?”

“Polly wants to punch you.”

“Polly is a violent parrot.”

“Yes Polly is.”

Skulduggery drove on and Valkyrie grinned. It was like she’d been holding her breath, and now suddenly she could breathe again. She felt her whole body relax. She was back in the Bentley. She was back by his side.
