Joost was a Dutch mortal who appeared in Across a Dark Plain. In 1861, he gave information to the Dead Men concerning Noche and Nefarian Serpine. He tried to kill the Dead Men before giving up the location of Serpine rather unwillingly, and is absolutely terrified of Anton Shudder.
