Katahedral crystals, informally known as black crystals, were used as the power source of for the Sceptre of the Ancients and were discovered by the Faceless Ones who realised the crystals sang to them. Only a descendant of the Ancients could touch the crystals; otherwise, the bearer would turn to dust. When Valkyrie Cain's reflection held the sceptre, she didn't test to see if this rule applied to reflections.

History[]

The black crystals were created by the Faceless Ones. They were used by the Ancients to create the Sceptre of the Ancients. When the Ancients took the crystals, they did not sing to the Faceless Ones as they usually did.
