Kes is a nickname that Valkyrie uses for Darquesse's ghost. In Resurrection, Kes is seemingly hostile and unfriendly towards Valkyrie, but they both grow more endearing to each other. Kes is described as a "piece Darquesse left behind". Only Valkyrie can see Kes. Kes is a benevolent part of Darquesse, and sometimes helps Valkyrie on her adventures. During Seasons of War, she encourages Valkyrie to be more positive and to stop using The Music Box, comparing it to a drug.
