Mellifluous Golding is a woman who appears in Bedlam. She is shown to collect secrets. She lives in a house called Clockwork House, which is a huge sigil. The house’s walls hold an enormous clockwork. Each cog holds a secret. Mellifluous explains that the secrets may not matter on a large scale, but they are important to the people who contributed them. If the secret becomes known to more people, the cog dulls and is replaced. The first secret and cog in the clockwork is her original male taken name.
In Bedlam, Mellifluous provides Valkyrie and Skulduggery with the cog that holds the location to Greymire Asylum, in exchange for both of them providing a secret of their own. In response to Valkyrie’s question of the purpose of Clockwork House, she responds “That’s a secret too”.
