A Concussion stick first appeared in Last Stand of Dead Men. It was used by Valkyrie after she lost her magic. It can give any creature with a brain a concussion. The stick needs to recharge after every blast. A sigil is carved on the stick, allowing it to cause concussions. The stick recharges using the magic of the owner, as a result of this, when Stephanie uses the stick, she needs Skulduggery to recharge it for her.

A concussion stick was given to Valkyrie Cain by Skulduggery Pleasant. Valkyrie had asked Skulduggery for one of the sharp swords the Dead Men were using. Skulduggery wouldn't allow her to use one, saying that she would most likely chop off her fingers. Instead, he handed her a concussion stick. At first, Valkyrie wasn't too pleased as she wanted a weapon that can hurt people; until she learned about its potent side.
