Tantalus McGovern is a character who appears in Midnight. He was formerly a member of The Darquesse Society before being voted out after attacking Sebastian Tao with a knife. Tantalus was the unofficial leader of the group, only gaining the position because he wouldn't stop moaning when people didn't listen to him and because he lacked any identifiable sense of humor.
Biography[]
Midnight[]
Tantalus makes his first appearance leading one of the group's meetings. He hurries everybody along and leads the group chant before rudely asking Sebastian why he called the meeting. Sebastian and Forby then explain their plan to reverse engineer the box that opened the portal to the Leibniz Universe and open a new portal to find Darquesse, who is in The Faceless Ones' universe. He inserts rude and sarcastic quips during the duration of the explanation. When the group plans the heist in to The Dark Cathedral, him, Bennet Troth and Sebastian are chosen for the job. After they steal the cleaver scythe, Tantalus attacks Sebastian with a knife before being overwhelmed by him. He goes back to the group and tells his (biased) side of the story before holding a vote to kick Sebastian out of the group. Nobody votes to kick Sebastian out (except Tantalus) and the group in turn unanimously vote (except Tantalus) to kick Tantalus out. Tantalus then complains that they can't kick him out due to it being his group, to which everyone else explains that it's not one persons group. He insults multiple people and tells everyone in the group to die before leaving.
Trivia[]
- The Darquesse Society was founded in Tantalus's living room. Tantalus uses this reason to claim he owns the group.
- Tantalus' full name was revealed in the Grimoire.
