Thurid Guild, an Elemental, is the former leader of The Irish Sanctuary. Because of events in the past, he hates Skulduggery, and was happy when Skulduggery was in the Faceless Ones' realm.

Biography

The War

During the war, Guild used to lead the Exigency Programme, which is a group of highly trained individuals. The people did the dirty work such as assassinations and sabotage. Guild tried to recruit Ghastly and Skulduggery, but the two refused. Meritorious needed someone to assassinate Vangaurd. Guild volounteered one of his men, telling him that he can dissapear afterwards. Guild made all the evidence point to Mevolent's men, and Scarab in particular.

After the death of the Council of Elders in the first book, an emergency committee elected Guild to be the new Grand Mage[1].

As Grand Mage

In the second book, Thurid Guild is the new Grand Mage after Meritorious was killed, though he has yet to elect his two Elders, though he wants to have Mr. Bliss as an Elder. Guild makes his first appearance briefing Skulduggery and Valkyrie on the escape of Baron Vengeous.

Later in the book Skulduggery invaded the Sanctuary, thinking that Guild was responsible for freeing Vengeous. When Skulduggery said this to Guild, he fired Skulduggery.

The Return of the Diablerie

Guild recruits Remus Crux as the new Sanctuarie's Prime Detective. Later on, he and Cleavers raid Kenspeckle Grouse's lab to find Fletcher Renn. The Diablerie kidnap him, telling Ghastly and Tanith to exchange him for Fletcher at Liffey Bridge. During the trade, Skulduggery shoots Guild as he has a bomb attached to him. They manage to rescue Guild, but lose Fletcher. After the events at Aranmore Farm, Guild says that he and Mr. Bliss did all the work, and Skulduggery did nothing.

The Revengers' Club

Guild recruites Davina Marr as the Sanctuary's newest detective. Guild has his fingers are taken off by a Vampire in the attack of the Sanctuary, but are later re-attached. After his family is taken hostage, Scarab tries to force Guild to blow up Croke Park Stadium (killing 80,000 people live on TV) with the Desolation Engine, which was designed to be armed only by Guild and to spare his life alone. Valkyrie and Skulduggery try to stop him, but fail.

Just as he is about to blow up the stadium, Fletcher teleports him to the sea, where lots of fish are killed but he survives. Guild decides to finally accept the crime he commited, and is arrested. Marr lies to Skulduggery and Valkyrie saying that Guild wants them to escort him to his cell. She wanted them to be there to blow up the Sanctuary with the other Desolation Engine.

Skulduggery flies away with Valkyrie and Guild, but one of his legs is burnt in the process.
