Vitakinesis[1] is a discipline of Adept magic. Its practitioners, called Vitakinetics or simply Vitas, have the ability to heal people.
Vitakinetics are uncommon, as healing can be better achieved through science magic, rendering the discipline somewhat redundant. Most prominent doctors, such as Kenspeckle Grouse and Reverie Synecdoche, are not Vitakinetics. Exceptions, such as Whorl, typically learn scientific methods of healing as well, in order to bolster their own abilities.
Mechanics[]
Little is known of Vitakinesis, save that practitioners can both heal and hurt people using their hands. Their hands glow when they use their power, and become warm. The extent of their healing is limited, as they can only accelerate the natural processes of the body. For example, they cannot reattach severed digits or regrow teeth.
Vitakinetics also have some level of resistance to magical corruption, such as that of Azzedine Smoke.
Richard Melior is a Neoteric Vitakinetic, and as such, he is able to do things that typical Vitakinetics cannot. By drawing on an individual's life force, typically his own, Melior is able to resurrect the dead, or create harmful shockwaves of the same energy. It is unclear whether it would be possible for a normal Vitakinetic to achieve this, but it is doubtful.
