"Gravity is a fickle mistress. With the right wink and the right smile, small pockets of it can be persuaded to shift to altogether new positions. Wall-Walking is not about sticking to walls or ceilings. It is simply about not falling from them."

Wall-Walking is a form of Adept magic that gives practitioners the ability to walk on walls and ceilings.

Wall-Walking is most commonly seen among assassins such as the Knives in the Darkness, as it greatly assists with infiltration, escape, stealth, and ambushes, and can put even experienced fighters at a disadvantage by disorienting them. Wall-Walkers are known to choose this as their discipline to aid their pre-existing ability to fight and kill, seeing more aggressive disciplines as redundant.

However, Wall-Walking is perceived to be among the weaker magical disciplines, so practitioners are uncommon even among assassins. The only known Wall-Walkers are Tanith Low, Hayley Skirmish, Audoen, and Valkyrie Cain, who is taught by Tanith in 2021.

Mechanics[]

A Wall-Walker is capable of manipulating a pocket of gravity around themselves so that they can walk on walls and ceilings. Quoneel notes that this is among the more difficult magical disciplines to learn. Because Wall-Walkers can manipulate the gravity around themselves, they have heightened agility, aiding in jumps and flips, and an excellent sense of balance; for instance, Tanith Low is able to stand upright on a lamppost, and fight on top of a moving car.

Wall-Walking requires less magic than most other magical disciplines, so Wall-Walkers are able to use a weaker magical ability as well: the ability to seal and unlock doors. This is technically a separate discipline, but, according to Valkyrie Cain, it uses some of the same basic principles as Wall-Walking ("moving magic").

Sealing and unlocking doors is done by pressing one's hands to the door. The former appears as a sheen that spreads across the door, greatly strengthening it. The latter can also be used on non-door mechanisms by skilled Wall-Walkers, provided they are able to envision the mechanism as a lock; Tanith was able to remove the screw from a Cleaver's scythe, separating the blade from the handle.

Tanith has been known to say "withstand" as she seals doors, but this does not appear to be a requirement, as she has been seen to use her magic without doing this.
